See how much Hello Work pays per day, for how many days and when payments start, using the official amounts in effect since August 1, 2026.
Estimate. The exact amount is the one written on the 雇用保険受給資格者証, which Hello Work issues after you apply. People who have a hard time finding work (就職困難者) get more days, which this calculator does not cover.
People who had 雇用保険 for 12 months or more in the 2 years before leaving. If you were fired, or left for a reason the law accepts as fair, 6 months in the last year is enough. You must be ready to work and looking for a job. Your visa must allow you to work.
After you apply at Hello Work there is a 7-day wait for everyone. If you quit, you wait 1 more month (3 months if it is the third time in 5 years). If you were fired, you are paid right after the 7 days.
Take these to the Hello Work office near you: the 離職票 (your company sends it about 10 days after you leave), your 在留カード, your マイナンバー card or notice, two photos and your bank passbook. Your right lasts 1 year from the day after you leave. If you wait, you lose days.
The benefit is paid to people who are in Japan looking for a job, and you must visit Hello Work every 4 weeks. If you go back to your home country for good, the payments stop.
