国民健康保険料 納入通知書 — National Health Insurance notice

Who sends itCity hall, insurance section (国保年金課)
When it arrives and deadlineArrives in June or July. Payments are monthly until March. The date is on each slip.

What it is

Tells you your National Health Insurance premium for the year, April to March, calculated from the previous year's income and the number of people in your family, and includes monthly payment slips.

What to do

Pay the slips or set up automatic bank payment. Were you fired? Take your 雇用保険受給資格者証 to city hall: the bill will use 30% of your income. Joined company insurance? Go cancel the 国民健康保険, because it does not cancel by itself.

If you ignore it

You get a 督促状 and then seizure. With long arrears you may have to pay the full doctor's bill. Arrears also count against you at visa renewal.
